1. What is CSArt Colorado?
Denver Botanic Gardens and Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA) are proud to present Community Supported Art Colorado (CSArt Colorado). Through a buy-local, share-based membership, CSArt Colorado brings artists and art lovers together. Selected by curators from Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art and Denver Botanic Gardens, the featured artworks will be in a range of media and allow for people to easily discover artists.
Modeled closely on agricultural CSAs that link local food growers with local consumers, the CSArt program has gained awareness thanks to the work of St. Paul-based Springboard for the Arts.
CSArt Colorado creates opportunities for residents to support their local art community through a share-based collective.
2. How do I become a shareholder?
Learn more and buy a share of CSArt Colorado here.
3. What are the benefits to becoming a shareholder?
As a CSArt Colorado shareholder, you will receive ten original works of art created by established and emerging Colorado artists. You will be invited to two art distribution events scheduled for spring and fall. At these events shareholders will meet the artists, socialize with other collectors, and pick up five works of art. Becoming a shareholder is a sustainable way to support your local art community.
4. What if I miss an art distribution event?
If you are unable to attend an art distribution event, please let us know ahead of time by emailing email@example.com or calling 303.443.2122. CSArt Colorado will not be able to deliver artworks to shareholders.
5. Can I choose which artists are going to be in my share?
No. Curators from BMoCA and Denver Botanic Gardens have carefully selected the participating CSArt artists. The artists have been split into two diverse groups, Crop and Harvest. Shareholders have the option of selecting their preferred share, but can not pick specific artists to receive work from.
6. When is the deadline for purchasing CSArt shares?
There is no deadline in which to purchase your share. However, we do strongly recommend that you purchase your share early as they will sell out. 2014 shares are available now and can be purchased here.
7. How do I purchase shares for 2014?
2014 shares are for sale now! To see a list of the participating 2014 artists and purchase a share, please click here. Sign-up for the CSArt Colorado e-newsletter or visit us on Facebook and Twitter for information and updates.
8. Can I buy both shares?
Yes! As long as there is availability, patrons are welcome to purchase as many shares as they wish. Many CSArt members have difficulty choosing between the two groups and thus buy both shares. A CSArt share also makes a wonderful gift and can be purchased for someone other then yourself.
9. What if I get something I don’t like in my share?
The CSArt Colorado curators have made every effort to assure quality artwork—carefully selecting local talent over a range of disciplines. There may be times when you aren’t that fond of a work. Please remember that the concept of CSArt is to support local artists and your creative community. By the end of the season, shareholders will be exposed to contemporary art in Colorado, discover new artists, and will walk away with a diverse selection of artwork. Also, any artworks not to your taste make wonderful gifts.
